Focal Vestia N1 speakers are the stand mount model in the Vestia range that sits above Chora and below Aria. N1 is a two-way loudspeaker that uses Slatefibre cone drivers and a TAM tweeter. The tweeter has an Alluminium magnesium inverted dome for highly detailed treble. The cabinets all feature more than one port to enhance the bass response. There are also three floor standers and a centre speaker in the range (available separately). These speakers are available in black, dark wood or light wood finishes with differing front baffles.
Advanced cabinet design
The Vestia range features MDF enclosures with more than one tuned vent, for mid bass impact and punchy low frequencies. This gives a natural sound with no honking. Passive time alignment is achieved by sitting the cabinets on an aluminium base and tilting them back slightly. This allows all the audio frequencies to arrive at the listener at the same time.
Slatefibre cone drivers
The Vestia N1 bass driver uses a technology developed in 2019, known as the Slatefibre cone. This benchmark cone gives a rich and ultra-balanced sound, especially in the midranges. The slate effect also has great aesthetic properties. The cones are made in France and are made from recycled non-woven carbon fibres. These are then mixed with a thermoplastic polymer. The result is a very strong and rigid cone with excellent acoustic properties.
The carbon fibres are all oriented in the same direction. This increases the drivers rigidity to enable more bass to be generated. Next, damping is improved by having the fibres non-woven. Along with the thermoplastic bond, this provides top-grade damping as well as lightness. Carbon fibre is a very light material, which gives the cones more sensitivity.
New Vestia TAM tweeter
The N1 uses an 25mm aluminium magnesium inverted dome tweeter known as TAM. Focal technologies are used to create a tweeter with good off-axis properties as well as a highly detailed treble.
The Vestia range
The N1 is the first in the Vestia series and is a two-driver bookshelf design. Next, the N2 is a four-driver design with a 6” mid and two 6” bass units along with the TAM tweeter. The N3 is a five-driver unit with triple 6” bass units . The Vestia N4 is the flagship floor stander, with two 8” bass units. There is also a three-driver centre speaker.
