The roads are full of tripods, speed cameras and unmarked police cars. Not to mention other road users and their maneuvers. A split second of lost vigilance can be costly. We're not just talking about money. It's also important to consider the stress experienced during car accidents.
Our customers, wanting to protect themselves from unpleasant situations on the road, often ask: what kind of registrar is best video recorder? Today we are ready to answer it in detail. Also in this guide we will briefly discuss the most popular models of recorders in our store, talk about radar detectors, hybrids, tripods and other important topics for vehicle drivers.
Without further ado, let's discuss the capabilities of video recorders.
The best video recorder: what to look for when choosing
Viewing angle. The wider the viewing angle, the larger the area it will record. Our specialists recommend choosing a recorder with a viewing angle of at least 120-140 degrees. Such a video recorder will record not only the roadway, but also the roadside and signs.
If the manufacturer says that the viewing angle of the video recorder is 170 degrees, don't rush to buy it. This is often an unfounded temptation - as the viewing angle increases, the image in the recording becomes spherical, that is, "blurred".
Image resolution. How would you react if we told you that the quality of the recording has an impact on identifying those responsible for a traffic accident? Such situations do happen. Usually Full HD Devices with high image quality quite clearly capture situations that occur at night or in heavy rain, as well as car license plates.
That is why we recommend choosing Full HD or higher quality of filming. It is worth knowing that the quality of the video is influenced not only by the number of pixels (which cheaper manufacturers tend to boast about), but also by the type of matrix, sensitivity, image processor and optical lens system. For example, Neoline uses six lenses (as in expensive mobile phones), "Amber" processor and "Sony Exmor" matrimonythis.
Memory. Our experts recommend purchasing a 128 GB memory card, but not all devices support it. For example, memory cards larger than 128 GB are not supported by "Neoline"devices.
If you choose Full HD If you are using a video recorder that records in 1080p resolution, be aware that one hour of video will take up about 8 GB of space on the card. In addition, most recorders divide the card's memory into three parts:
1) Recording while driving.
2) Recording while parked.
3) "Events" - video recordings from this folder are deleted not by the video recorder, but by the driver himself.
Filming while parked. Every user would definitely like their in-car dash cam to record videos even when the car is stationary. This is a great deterrent against reckless or dishonest drivers who might damage your vehicle and then drive away.
It is not common for a registrar to boast this normally functioning feature for several reasons:
- The recorder must not discharge the battery, so it must be able to monitor the voltage and disconnect when the car battery reaches, for example, 11.8 V.
- To ensure that the video is not erased before you return, the recorder must be able to start recording in several situations. When a moving object appears in the lens's field of view or if something hits your car. The two-channel video recorder "Neoline G-tech X53" and the hybrid recorder "Xcop 9100S" are the best at handling this task.

CLP filterThis accessory helps to avoid various reflections from the windshield or sun glare in the video.
Number of frames per second. The higher this number is, the smoother the image will be, but at the same time it will take up more space in the recording.
GPS antenna. Video recorders with a GPS antenna show the recorder's location and driving speed during filming. They can also detect medium-speed zones and stationary speed cameras (if there is an integrated GPS database of speed cameras). The GPS database of Neoline products is constantly maintained and updated. This allows Neoline recorders to be the most advanced on the market.
Rear camera. It can be used in several ways. In the first case, it allows you to record images from both the front and rear of the vehicle. Then the rear camera comes in handy when parking the car in parking lots.
The second method: you can record the image both in front of the car and inside the cabin. The latter functionality is useful for those who have encountered theft of devices installed in car interiors.
Motion sensor. Speaking of long-fingered cameras, it's worth mentioning the motion sensor. This sensor reacts to movement within the sensor's coverage area and automatically starts recording. This way, you'll have a video of the criminal activity without any effort.
Compact video recorder "Neoline Wide S31" with sun glare filter
By the way, for those who want to protect themselves from theft, we recommend choosing a compact, less noticeable recorder. For example, the Neoline Wide S31. In its price category, this device is one of the most profitable on the market. It is not for nothing that our customers speak favorably about it.

Convenient use. A common video recorder has an automatic power-on and power-off function. What is its benefit? Sometimes drivers forget to turn on the recorder. If the recorder turns on as soon as the car moves off and turns off when the engine turns off, you won't have to worry about it anymore. This functionality also saves space on the memory card.
Integrated displayYes, this advantage may seem insignificant at first. However, practice shows that the integrated screen allows you to quickly resolve the situation during a traffic accident.
Night modeIf you spend a lot of time on the road in the dark, it's worth choosing a video recorder with this feature.
Hybrids: two in one.It is a video recorder and a radar detector in one device. Radars, using light and sound signals, detect speed cameras on the road. Such anti-radar devices allow you to avoid committing a violation - you just need to reduce your speed to the permitted speed within a short period of time.
One of the most popular hybrid devices in our store is the Neoline X-COP 9100S. A few words about Neoline's products will not be enough, so let's talk a little more.
Hybrid video recorder Neoline X-COP 9100S
Why don't we hide our admiration for Neoline's products?
Complete Neoline products appeared on the Lithuanian market back in 2016. They have all the necessary European certificates, full technical support, and all products are manufactured in South Korea. The company also provides a two-year warranty on all products.
The Neoline range includes: video recorders, radar detectors (anti-radar), hybrid video recorders, voltage converters and active charging phone holders. We have already mentioned that hybrid devices have received the most attention. No other manufacturer has produced such products for some time. What makes them special? We will briefly discuss one of the most popular hybrids among our customers.
Neoline X-COP 9100S reports unmarked cars and other radars. This hybrid blocks false signals. By the way, the Z-type filter differs from others in that it does not block real police radars.
Moreover, this hybrid video recorder has a highly sensitive EXD Plus internal module. It detects K- and Ka-band and rear-facing radars from maximum distance.
What do you need to know about tripods?
Another very relevant question asked by customers is: how to protect yourself from tripods? In short, there is no way to protect yourself 100 percent.
It should be understood that the existing "tripods" are laser meters. If the radar is focused along the road, it is realistic for the detector to detect them even at a distance of 400-700 meters. However, if the "Poliscan" type laser radar is focused a little more intelligently, i.e. across the road or towards the rear of the vehicle, then the detector will trigger too late or not trigger at all.
In other words, radar detectors usually report a tripod on the road too late, and may not report a rear-end radar at all.
Unmarked traffic police cars: can they be detected?
Another frequently asked question: how to protect yourself from unmarked cars used by police officers on patrol?
In short, today, unmarked cars in Lithuania mostly use radio-wave radars operating in the Ka range. This allows them to be detected from a fairly far distance, sometimes even two kilometers away. However, it should be remembered that it is possible to turn on the radar just before the measurement - in such cases, the detectors cannot protect against unmarked cars one hundred percent.
Let's discuss the radars on unmarked police cars in more detail. There are four types of them. Unfortunately, anti-radar devices cannot detect all of them.
The first type is photo radarThis radar is mobile and, as the name suggests, mostly just takes pictures. They take pictures while stationary, so with a reliable radar detector you should be able to detect them from a safe distance.
The second type – integrated handheld radar.Such radars measure the speed of a car in all directions (both while driving and stationary) within approximately 0.3-3 seconds. A radar detector can detect it, but again, it is important to purchase a quality product.
Some unmarked traffic police cars do not have radar. Instead, they have camera connected to the speedometer (so-called Trip-Track). This type is characterized by the fact that it measures not the instantaneous speed, but the average speed (from point A to B). Such a car usually follows from behind. The equipment is relatively inaccurate, so in order to achieve more accurate data, officers measure the speed over a longer period of time (at least 15-30 seconds). Unfortunately, this type of radar detector does not detect unmarked cars. The only way to protect yourself is to reduce your speed if you notice that the same car has been driving behind you for some time.
The fourth method of measuring speed is handheld laser meter. It has a camera, so it can read license plates, measure speed, distance, and save the violation in memory. By the way, not all violators are stopped. Often they receive a letter.
So, nowadays there are a lot of reliable devices that allow you to feel safer on the road. On the other hand, we have seen that in some cases they are not 100% effective. But who knows what Neoline and other technology companies that have justified their name are preparing for us. We know that new technologies enter the market loudly and unexpectedly. Our customers will be the first to know about them.
