Sound insulation
(50 products)How to make your car quieter and more comfortable.
Driving pleasure and comfort when driving a car consists of a number of components:
Softness of car suspension, dynamism of steering control, convenience of road and environment overview. The amount of noise entering the cabin also plays an important role in comfort. When driving, the road and ambient noise in the interior of most inexpensive cars becomes unpleasant or even annoying. When driving on the highway or in the city at a speed of 50-70 km/h, the amount of noise can be significantly reduced if you treat the car with special soundproofing for cars.
A natural question arises, why doesn't the manufacturer do it right away? The answer is the competitive price of the car. In production, the cost price includes not only the price of the soundproofing material, but also its gluing. Steps for picking a car on a conveyor belt are written down in minutes, and in order to perform high-quality sound insulation, it takes a lot of extra time. Another reason is that the total weight of the car increases by several tens of kilograms.
Where does the noise come from?
The nature of perceptible sound is the vibration of elastic waves in space. Given that the car body is usually made of metal with a complex profile (individual parts can be hollow), it is an ideal environment for the movement of sound waves, resonance from vibration, as well as random wandering of reflected sound. Sound vibrations in a car are divided into air and structural. Airborne noise is caused by air, structural noise is caused by vibrations of solid materials.
Therefore, in order to achieve good results, it is necessary to install sound insulation in the car.
Vibration isolation
The purpose of vibration isolation is to suppress resonances of flat surfaces (the so-called drum effect). Bituminous mastic with various additives is usually used for this, so that this material does not harden and stop working at sub-zero ambient temperatures. This is very important when choosing vibration insulation. Bituminous sheets from cheap manufacturers harden into stone in winter and do not perform their function, even worse, when they shrink and fall apart from vibration.
How does it work? The resonance frequencies of metal, plastic, bituminous and aluminum materials are different. Therefore, when these materials are glued on top of each other, they inhibit each other, which results in the desired effect. The greater the thickness of such materials or the number of layers, the greater the damping effect, but it must be remembered that these materials are not light, so the weight of the car parts increases rapidly. So, if you are going to glue the trunk lid with vibro insulation material, consider that all the additional weight will have to be overcome by the gas shock absorbers of the lid so that it does not go down by itself.
Sound insulation
At this stage, the goal is to maximally suppress stray noise reflections in the medium and high frequency range. The most effective sound insulation material for this purpose is felt or pyramid-shaped sheets. But it must be remembered that due to the temperature difference, moisture condenses on the surfaces of the car's details, and when it rains, direct water from the glass appears inside the doors.
Therefore, before purchasing sound insulation materials, it is recommended to choose responsibly or consult with Autogars salon or service specialists. In order to avoid such unpleasant moments when you start to enjoy the results of sound insulation after the first rain or wet weather, unpleasant graves do not appear in the car. In such places, closed-pore materials are used, with minimal moisture absorption.
Squeak insulation (Antiscrip) is usually a thin adhesive synthetic fabric that eliminates the creaking or screeching emitted by two surfaces during contact. For example Front panel details, door trims, etc
Sound insulation. Vibration Isolation. Sound insulation is provided. All these products, if properly placed in your car, will reduce the noise, which is not only unpleasant, but can also cause serious health problems. Solve them with good sound insulation materials. You will have guaranteed extra comfort during your trip. When driving, you will feel less vibration, you will not hear squeaks caused by parts touching each other, and you will not be disturbed by extraneous noise from the street or the engine compartment. It will be easier to talk in the car, you will be less tired, and nothing will distract you while driving.
