The TN-4D-SE is powered by an advanced brushless DC motor, developed exclusively for direct-drive turntables. This motor provides crystal-locked speed accuracy, regulated by a computer-controlled feedback circuit to achieve low wow-and-flutter levels—a rare achievement for such a stylish, low-profile design.
Knife-Edge, Pivot-Point Tonearm Bearings
In collaboration with SAEC Corporation, a world-renowned manufacturer of high-end tonearms, the TN-4D-SE uses knife-edge, pivot-point bearings in its tonearm. Unlike conventional tonearm bearings, these fine vertical movements enhance dynamic sound quality, delivering excellent resolution. The S-shaped tonearm also features a universal headshell fitting, enabling quick and easy cartridge/headshell swaps and supporting a wide range of cartridge weights (14 - 23g / 0.5 - 0.8 oz.).
Precision Anti-Skating & Stylus-Pressure Adjustment
The tonearm comes equipped with a counterweight for precise stylus-pressure adjustment and an anti-skating mechanism, ensuring optimal tracking across your records.
Pre-Installed SUMIKO Oyster Cartridge
The TN-4D-SE includes a highly regarded Oyster MM cartridge by SUMIKO, a legendary American cartridge manufacturer. Whether you’re listening to rock, jazz, or classical, the Oyster cartridge delivers a powerful yet nuanced performance.
Built-In PHONO EQ Amplifier
This turntable comes with a built-in PHONO EQ amplifier, supporting MM cartridges. It allows you to connect the TN-4D-SE directly to the line-level inputs of your existing hi-fi system. The NJM8080 IC from New Japan Radio Corporation is employed as the operational amplifier, amplifying the tiny signals from the cartridge to LINE level without compromising sound quality.
Die-Cast Aluminium Platter
Paired with the newly developed motor, the die-cast aluminium platter with high inertia ensures improved speed stability, reducing rotational inconsistencies.
Insulating Feet with Shock Absorption
The TN-4D-SE’s insulating feet feature a machined aluminium shell topped with a rubber cushion, attached to a high-density MDF plinth. These feet provide excellent shock absorption, protecting the turntable from unwanted vibrations and acoustic feedback.
2-Speed Turntable for 33-⅓ and 45 RPM
The TN-4D-SE supports playback speeds of 33-⅓ and 45 rpm, perfect for both LP and EP records. The rotary control for startup and speed selection is crafted from machined aluminium, reflecting the turntable’s high-quality construction and engineering.
