The Anthem AVM 70 8K AV Processor is Anthem's latest AV processor with support for 8K content with 8K capable HDMI inputs and electronics.

This AV processor is essentially an AV receiver without the amplifiers - it selects the source and will decode the cinema surround sound, be it Dolby Atmos or DTS. The processor will also control the volume and manage the bass if a subwoofer is used. Finally it will send video to a display device and send the audio to an external amplifier.

The AVM 70 8K is equipped with DTS: X the latest version of DTS that supports up to 11.2 channels. The unit has a high build quality and unrivaled versatility.

Simple App Control

AV amplifiers are complex devices and anything that makes control easier is welcome. Anthem have developed an easy to use app that gives you full control, with a simple interface. The app can be used on smartphones, tablets or laptops. Flexibility is ensured, as you can make changes on the fly. More than one zone is available so you can adjust the volume and tweak each channel for each zone, separately.

Versatile Amplifier Modules

The AVM 70 has high performance amplifier modules that can be configured to match your system and speakers. Unused modules can be used for extra subwoofers or to bi-amp the front speakers. Additionally, you can optimize the presentation with ARC Genesis, the latest version of Anthem's Room Correction software.

Why ARC Genesis?

Furniture and other obstructions in a room can upset the sound balance of a cinema sound system. ARC is an active room correction system that uses advanced software and a microphone to monitor the actual sound and adjust it for the best effect. ARC Genesis is the latest version that has Mac and Windows support. The algorithm has been improved with more options, to give deep bass and better high frequency dispersion. The sound improvement is impressive. Next we look at the two main surround sound encoding methods Dolby Atmos and DTS:X.

Dolby Atmos Explained

Dolby Atmos is a surround sound encoding method that was first used in cinemas in 2012. It has now found its way into domestic cinema amplifiers and systems. At the sound mixing stage, there are 128 discrete channels that can be "directed" to any location in the 3D sound-space. Each sound is actively steered to the correct speaker. This is known as object based audio. Home systems use up to eleven channels that include height channels.

DTS:X Explained

A rival to Dolby Amos from DTS:X. This is a versatile system that can work with your existing cinema setup without needing extra channels. It is more recent than Dolby Atmos, first being used in 2015. Another difference is that DTS is open source meaning that any manufacturer can use it. It is a multidimensional audio platform that allows the precise placement of sound objects. It also allows you to adjust just the voice channels, for example.

Exemplary build quality

Anthem use their own circuit topologies for the best performance. This ensures a long life and the best of reliability. Power supplies are reliable and quiet in operation. Thousands of hours of development go into every Anthem product.
