The Technics SL-1200GR2 is a next-generation direct drive turntable designed to deliver the highest sound quality and stable performance. It features advanced ΔΣ-Drive (Delta Sigma Drive) technology that suppresses motor vibrations, ensuring smooth rotation and accurate music reproduction. The durable body, vibration-damping pad, and high-quality components ensure long-lasting use and a flawless listening experience.
Coreless direct drive motor – ensures stable and precise platter rotation, eliminating the “snagging” problem.
ΔΣ-Drive motor drive system – dampens vibrations, reduces harmonic noise and ensures smooth operation.
Low-noise power supply – provides stable power without audio pulsation and hum.
High-sensitivity pickup – aluminum S-shaped arm and precision bearing ensure accurate groove tracking.
Two-layer pad – effectively dampens vibrations and improves sound quality.
Four-layer body – combines sturdy BMC and aluminum construction for greater stability.
High-quality terminals – gold-plated phono and ground sockets with metal shielding protect against external interference.
Silicone isolators – effectively dampen vibrations and ensure long-term reliability.
Introducing the most advanced motor drive circuit with the revolutionary ΔΣ-Drive (Delta Sigma Drive), a groundbreaking innovation designed to imperceptibly eliminate even the slightest vibrations caused by the motor. Technics' mission is to enhance your listening experience by taking sound quality capabilities to new heights, where innovation meets unparalleled performance!
Next-generation Technics direct-drive turntables
We are constantly striving for the highest sound quality, and our latest innovation, ΔΣ-Drive, is changing the game. The groundbreaking technology not only eliminates fine vibrations caused by the motor, but also increases the accuracy of the electromagnetic conversion of your cartridge. Introducing the SL-1200GR2, the first stage of a revolutionary direct drive turntable system. Immerse yourself in unparalleled sound quality because you deserve the best in every beat!
Coreless direct drive motor ensures stable rotation
In 1970, Technics revolutionized the turntable industry with the world's first direct drive system. Unlike traditional belt-driven drive systems, our direct drive system minimizes motor-induced vibration, resulting in exceptional signal-to-noise ratio and long-term durability without the need for frequent parts replacement. However, previous models suffered from "sticking" issues due to iron cores, which affected the accuracy of rotation. The SL-1200GR2 features a coreless single rotor/single stator iron motor that eliminates the stickiness issue and maximizes the smoothness of rotation. Experience superior performance and durability with Technics' cutting-edge technology.
New motor drive system, “ΔΣ-Drive” (Delta Sigma Drive)
Discover a new realm of sonic precision with ΔΣ-Drive, a cutting-edge system developed using Technics' PWM signal processing expertise. In addition to reducing harmonics, the new drive also dampens motor vibrations, allowing the motor to rotate more smoothly and precisely, ensuring rich music reproduction.
Multi-stage silent power supply
Low noise switching circuit
By using a high-speed switching power supply, we ensure a constant and stable power supply with minimal audio ripple and hum. This clever use of a switching power supply in our turntable design not only eliminates the need for a large transformer, but also eliminates the need to take additional measures to eliminate mechanical vibration. In addition, by operating at a switching frequency of more than 100 kHz, any possible noise is limited and the full bandwidth of the music playback is preserved, for uninterrupted and high-quality listening.
Current injection active noise cancellation
Our innovative system features a high-performance noise detector combined with a precision bias amplifier. It not only detects any noise from the power supply, but also goes one step further by applying a phase-reversing current to eliminate these extraneous noise-causing components. The result? A power supply that outperforms traditional regulators, delivering ideal, flawless sound without the low-end noise.
Features
High primary rotation sensitivity pickup
The direction of rotation of the record is followed by the pickup, which is a crucial component for accurate reproduction. The system uses a lightweight, rigid aluminum tube adopted from Technics, which is in the traditional universal S-shape that maintains static balance. Thanks to the gimbal suspension and a high-precision bearing that is hand-assembled by skilled craftsmen, its initial movement sensitivity is no more than 5 mg. This meticulous construction ensures precise registration of the record grooves. In addition, it has a built-in additional weight, so it can be used with a variety of receiver cartridges.
Two-layer rigid pad with vibration damping characteristics
The advanced turntable pad design delivers superior sound quality by combining a two-layer construction with strategically placed damping rubber. This effectively eliminates unwanted resonance and delivers a clear and immersive sound experience. By optimizing the modeling, we have improved the aluminum die-cast construction to increase inertial mass and reduce vibration, improving overall performance. Reinforcement ribs installed at the rear provide even greater rigidity. Compared to the SL-1200MK5, our pad has sound damping characteristics that are more than twice as effective, ensuring an unparalleled listening experience.
High quality parts
Four-layer body construction
The SL-1200GR2 is highly durable thanks to its two-layer body that securely combines BMC and an aluminum die-cast body.
High quality terminals
The turntable uses detachable gold-plated phono and ground terminals, and a metal shielding structure inside the cabinet reduces the effects of external noise.
Efficient damping silicone insulators
The SL-1200GR2 uses special silicone rubber as the body-supporting isolators, which provides reliable vibration damping and long-term reliability.
