 What is Class D?
 Cambridge Audio's new all-in-one player, the Evo, uses revolutionary Hypex NCore Class D amplification. Until the Hypex NCore changed the game, Class D amplification was all about compactness and electrical efficiency, but the Hypex NCore also offers a clear advantage when it comes to clarity, definition and direct musicality.

 It's a big part of what makes the Evo such an enjoyable and compelling listen, but there are still some misconceptions about the Class D in the audio world. We asked Senior Electronics Engineer Francesco Bettucci to clarify a few things. Francesco joined Cambridge Audio five years ago and before that spent 10 years designing and manufacturing tube amplifiers. He says: “It's true that Class D was not a good solution in the past. It was often associated with cheap products. It can now function as an AB class in all respects.

Pick a tune, press 'play' and adjust the volume to your taste.
