Authentic analog belt turntable with XLR balanced output
DESCRIPTION
Hybrid chassis with multi-material makeup suppresses unwanted vibrations The TN-5BB features a chassis with a multilayer structure combining a heavy 36mm MDF baseplate with high internal loss and a 12mm synthetic marble, offering outstanding rigidity. Weighing 8.8kg, this combination provides excellent vibration suppression. The tone arm and platter are mounted on the synthetic marble top plate, while the motor is mounted on the MDF baseplate, isolating vibrations. The use of Japanese washi paper as a washer between the marble and MDF further enhances sound balance, ensuring optimal performance.
PRS3 belt drive structure supports accurate and stable platter rotation The TN-5BB uses a belt drive system with a flat belt to transmit the power of the DC motor to the platter's outer edge. An optical sensor detects rotation speed, and the Platter Rotation Sensing Servo System (PRS3) applies automatic adjustments for high precision. Supporting three speeds (33-⅓, 45, 78 rpm), it plays old and 78 rpm records with high quality.
20mm thick acrylic plate The 20mm-thick acrylic platter, weighing 1.7kg, ensures high inertial momentum. Acrylic's similar properties to vinyl reduce static charges, allowing records to be placed directly on the platter without the need for a turntable sheet, providing clearer sound.
Reliable tracking realized with knife-edge tone arm that is an SAEC × TEAC collaboration In collaboration with SAEC, the TN-5BB features a stainless-steel knife-edge tone arm for precise vertical tracking, while two-point Japanese-made ball bearings provide lateral support. The tone arm height is adjustable, allowing optimization for different cartridges and adhering to the Baerwald alignment for precise tracking.
Automatic arm lifting when playback ends The powered arm lifter enables single-button operation and includes a contactless optical sensor to automatically lift the arm when playback finishes. This function can be canceled for non-standard records.
Arm lead wire uses PC-Triple C material made by SAEC PC-Triple C conductor wire, developed by FCM Co., Ltd., is used in the tone arm for outstanding signal transmission. The technology minimizes signal obstruction by reducing crystal grain boundaries.
Ortofon 2M RED included as standard MM cartridge The TN-5BB comes pre-installed with the Ortofon 2M RED MM cartridge, renowned for its performance. Since it is aligned with the head-shell, users can enjoy music immediately after setup.
XLR balanced output connectors are optimal for balanced MC transmission In addition to RCA connectors, the TN-5BB offers XLR balanced output connectors, allowing connection to external phono equalizers like the PE-505 for superior signal transmission.
Attractive design contrasts the combination of pearl black and piano black with silver parts The design of the TN-5BB contrasts piano black MDF with pearl black synthetic marble, offering a luxurious yet dynamic appearance. Extruded aluminum knobs and feet complement the black and silver theme, adding elegance and a tactile, premium feel to the user experience.
