Technics continues its pursuit of ideal sound by moving into new acoustic dimensions realized through a fully digital amplifier.
DESCRIPTION
JENO Engine
Jitter is a major cause of distortion in digital systems. It is caused by misalignment of the master clock generators used to convert the digital signal to analog. To ensure that the sound is not severely affected by jitter, Technics has developed a jitter suppression circuit consisting of a clock generator to reduce jitter in the low frequency range of the noise-shaping system, and a high-precision sampling rate converter to suppress jitter in the high frequency range. Ideally, it reduces jitter across the entire frequency range. It works with the original high-precision PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) conversion circuit, optimizing noise shaping speed, degree and number of resampling and PWM gradation to convert high-resolution signals to PWM without compromising dynamic range. These technologies allow Technics digital amplifiers to extract natural and subtle nuances of music.ADCT (Active Distortion Suppression Technology)
Technics' new Active Distortion Suppression technology precisely detects and eliminates distortion in the power output stage generated by the speaker's counter-emf and voltage dips. In the Hi-Fi audio market, where an unlimited number of sound systems can be configured by combining various products, high-end audio amplifiers must be optimally suited to a wide range of speakers. By detecting the difference between the speaker terminal output and the JENO output, Active Distortion Suppression technology accurately detects the distortion and then adjusts the output digital signal, thus correcting the traditional digital amplification system. This ensures the speaker's high driving force and acoustic energy, as well as the unique benefits of a digital amplifier, such as accurate sound imaging and an expanded sound environment, regardless of the type of connected speakers.Advanced, fast, quiet power supply
The SU-R1000 uses a switching power supply system that ensures a stable supply of voltage and current required for digital amplification. In a traditional switching power supply system, the ON time was controlled to stabilize the voltage, so the switching frequency fluctuated depending on the load. This resulted in modulation noise affecting the sound quality. An advanced, fast, quiet power supply has eliminated this noise by locking the switching frequency in the 400 kHz band. In addition, an ultra-low noise regulator was introduced later. It prevents the regulation from being adversely affected by the fixed switching frequency and prevents the noise component from entering the high frequencies. The result is a highly responsive power supply that delivers the best performance from a digital amplifier.Four separate power supplies
Every element that makes up the SU-R1000's power supply has been thoroughly researched and revised to ensure better sound quality. In addition, separate power supply units are used for different circuit blocks for even better sound quality. The SU-R1000 is an integrated amplifier, so its internal circuits consist of pre-amplification and power-amplification parts in an analog and digital circuit block. The part of the background equalizer that processes analog signals is extremely sensitive to the effects of noise emitted by the power supply line. The SU-R1000 uses separate power supply units for the analog and digital circuits in the preamp stage. Separate power supply units are also used for the right and left channels in the power amplification stage, which requires more electrical power. Using four separate power supply units, the SU-R1000 avoids power line interference between circuit units, providing high signal-to-noise ratio and exceptional isolation.High end digital/analog input/output circuitry
The PHONO input and analog input sections have separate circuitry. Technics has come up with an ideal, symmetrical chain layout and fine tuning. The new circuits prevent interference between the right and left channels and perfectly separate them. In addition, the PHONO input section and the XLR input section ensure a fully balanced transmission, so that an ultra-pure signal is transmitted with as little noise as possible. The USB input circuit in the digital input section includes a high-quality Ruby Mica capacitor and a power conditioner with non-magnetic carbon film resistors to block electrical noise, such as from a computer, and reduce the effect of external noise. The A/D converter contains a high-efficiency chip manufactured by Asahi Kasei Microdevices (AKM) for high-precision A/D conversion. Thus, the SU-R1000 reproduces sound of exceptional quality from any analog or digital input source.Extremely rigid block and construction
In order to reduce the vibration of the hood, which is also a source of noise, the rigidity of the block has been increased. The inner unit has a separated double bottom construction. On the top bottom is the power amplifier section, which consists of the amplifier circuit and its power supply circuit. On the bottom is the pre-amp section, which consists of the analog input section, including the background equalizer, the digital input sections, as well as the power supply circuits for these circuits. Not only the upper and lower bottoms, but also individual chain blocks are separated from each other by steel protective plates. These steel guard plates also serve as bracing plates for the entire block. On the outside, the front panel is 10mm thick, while the side panels and top panel are made from 6mm Alumite-treated aluminum panels. They have improved rigidity and vibration resistance. Block insulators are made of cast iron and have excellent signal attenuation properties. In short, all the mentioned parts and materials improve the quality of internal signals and eliminate the effects of external vibrations.Input and output terminals are made from carefully selected high quality parts - Speaker terminals are designed to accept very large diameter speaker cables - Y-eye terminals ensure secure cable connection - Neutrik-made analog balance input terminals and PHONO XLR input terminals ( specially designed for MC) - Analog input terminals with gold-plated, machined brass parts
Refined Technics design - Attractive front panel with high-quality slim finish and iconic large dual-arrow meter - Volume dial and selector knob are made from solid aluminum blocks and hollowed out
Smart background equalizer
The SU-R1000's built-in Smart Equalizer utilizes sound quality enhancement technology for DPS that Technics has adapted to the LAPC, allowing for high sound quality that cannot be achieved with analog equalizers. This technology consists of three parts: 1. precise equalizer curve; 2. interference suppressor; 3. response optimizer. These features can be turned ON or OFF as per user preference.
